Diary of an American Exorcist

Demons, Possession, and the Modern-Day Battle Against Ancient Evil

About this item

Exorcist Msgr. Stephen Rossetti has a very active caseload of demonic possessions, and in each case two vivid lessons consistently emerge: demons possess or harass people in a myriad of ways (even when they do not enter a body), and they are defeated decisively by the power of Christ and His Church—and especially by invocations to the Blessed Mother.

In these pages, Msgr. Rossetti gives us an inside look at the intense experiences of an exorcist. He shares, without hype or varnish, what it is like, on a daily basis, to face demons who revile, threaten, and sometimes spiritually “wound” him. He describes the healing power of Christ for the possessed and for the exorcist, and reveals amazing moments when Christ and His Church visibly triumph over Satan. The reader is afforded a unique glimpse into the world of angels and demons, and the struggles of the possessed and those who minister to them. In this stunning, edifying, true diary of an American exorcist, you’ll learn:

  • What demonic possession is, and is not
  • Common tactics of Satan and his typical lies
  • How God protects exorcists
  • The difference between strong and weak possessions
  • The hierarchy of demons (not all are equal)
  • What it’s like for an exorcist to face Lucifer himself
  • Why demons choke people
  • How demons fear and hate one another too

"We confront evil daily. Surrounded by hellish poisons, the doors to letting Satan in are many. But with Jesus and Mary and the sacraments and virtuous and rigorous awareness we are free and protected. Diary of an American Exorcist will make you more vigilant about the kind of sanctity our lives and the world needs and God wants for us."

"Here are humble and informative reflections showing forth God’s grace, and the knowledge that has come from his own experience. Not only does the reader gain a better understanding of exorcism, but he also reveals the heart of an exorcist who often encounters many difficult moments in the encounter with the murky and terrible world of demons."

Hollywood got it all wrong!
Msgr. Rossetti's book puts the demonic in proper perspective: he calls them "dust bunnies" (pg. 5) when they are compared to our omnipotent, loving, merciful God. Reading this book shows just how powerful prayer and fasting can be. Example after example shows how through the mercy and love of God, we have absolutely nothing to fear from the demonic. Msgr. explains many topics about possession, obsession, angels, demons, heaven, and hell in a way that is easily understandable. His entries remind me that, while demons may be able to scare us, Jesus is Lord and we truly have nothing to fear. After reading this book, statues of the Blessed Mother with her heel crushing Satan mean so much more to me now.
