About this item

Lovingly illustrated by celebrated artist Frank Fraser, Thomas D. Williams’s magnificent poem First Christmas tells of the monumental event that Christians have celebrated for more than two thousand years: the birth of Jesus in a stable in Bethlehem.

Replete with glorious angels, joyful shepherds, indifferent townspeople, humble kings, delightful donkeys, cattle, sheep, and, of course, Joseph, Mary, and the adorable baby Jesus, these sublime pages leave Santa Claus behind and bring to vivid life the tender, moving, true story of Christmas.

If you love the classic poem “Twas the Night Before Christmas,” you’ll treasure First Christmas and place it at the center of your family’s annual Christmas celebrations.

"Christmas is the most enchanting time of the year. Carols, trees with colored lights, family gatherings and gifts. But Thomas Williams gets to the real heart of this magical time of year with charming poetry and eye-catching graphics embedded with precise theology. The real story of Christmas is cleverly told with rhyme and color. Terrific for children of all ages from 1 to 90."

Great book for our grandkids and friends
A book of flowing, easy-to-read poetry with precise and biblical theology and history. A breath of fresh air in a "Happy Holidays" secular world. The lush illustrations are eye candy for kids and adults alike. We bought 16 copies to share with family and friends (especially our 17 grandkids). Steve and Janet Ray

Christmas Classic on the true story of Christmas
Finally a family read for Christmas that keeps Christ in Christmas. My two younger children are beginning readers and loved following the verse...similar to the rhythm of ‘Twas the Night before Christmas’; hopefully they will begin to memorize it! The story follows the Biblical foundation of God choosing Mary, His triumphant birth, the visit from the Three Kings and then closing with “For on that still night, the world shifted its course, A babe in a manager it’s unlikely source.” This is sure to be our new Christmas classic. Thank you Thomas Williams!
