About this item

There once was a seed

Who lived in a drawer

In a room of a mansion

By a beautiful shore…

So begins this lovely retelling of Jesus' parable of the seed for children ages 3 and up.

The Seed who Was Afraid to be Planted introduces children to a tiny seed content to remain in his safe, cozy drawer with the other seeds. Suddenly, a day comes when the gardener who lives in the mansion takes the seed from his drawer and plants him in the ground. Faced with his biggest fear, the seed undergoes a miraculous experience that changes his life forever.

Beautifully illustrated and written in simple but delightful verse, The Seed who was Afraid to be Planted reminds us all that no matter how small or scared we may be, God has great plans for us—plans even more wonderful than we can imagine.

Delightful read-aloud adventure with a life lesson
The Seed Who Was Afraid to Be Planted is a delightful read-aloud adventure I will share with my grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Even if the child is old enough to read, the message of transformation and courage will be more effective when delivered by a mature person of wisdom whom the child admires and trusts. The book’s lessons are valuable and lasting, applicable the rest of the child’s life. Helping a child cope with their fears and understand the good that change brings them, is a privilege and a delight. This book gives people of every age something to ponder.

Darling Children's Book
This darling illustrated children’s book teaches that while change may be scary, and we may dread it, wonderful things we might otherwise never know can happen as the result of change. The rhyming is good and the illustrations are well done too.

Lesson for a Lifetime
As the mother of a large family, my husband and I have always read to our kids at night. With thousands of bedtime stories under our belt (We often go through a stack of them at night) I can honestly say this one is a winner. Beautiful artwork and powerful message! I highly recommend it.
